Full Stack Software Engineer - Catalyst

Summary

As a Full Stack Software Engineer at IOG, you are responsible for writing high-quality code for our products. You have the exciting challenge of working with cutting-edge research and technology with a focus on the market's needs. To support you on this challenge, our products have software architects, product managers, project managers, formal methods specialists, and QA test engineers, with whom you must communicate professionally, effectively, and efficiently.

Duties

1. Follow agile software development practices
2. Work with teams across multiple time zones
3. Work independently on software development tasks
4. Be proactive and require minimal supervision or mentoring to complete tasks
5. Review specifications produced by architects and formal methods specialists
6. Contribute to the design of algorithms
7. Write clean, straightforward, efficient code that satisfies previously agreed acceptance criteria and specifications
8. Commit often and submit small pull requests frequently
9. Cover your code with unit, property and integration tests when applicable
10. Review the pull requests of your team mates
11. Fix bugs in your own code and legacy code from others
12. Be available for emergency fixing of severity one issues on deployed products
13. Integrate software components and third-party libraries
14. Verify and deploy programs and systems
15. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software
16. Write documentation for the code
17. Write technical user manuals
18. Be knowledgeable of distributed and concurrent computation
19. Be knowledgeable of the basics of cryptography

Requirements

Key Competencies 

1. Write idiomatic code that satisfies the acceptance criteria of a given task
2. Write tests (unit tests, property tests) that provide sufficient and non-superfluous efficient code coverage.
3. Document code and APIs concisely and unambiguously
4. Break down tasks into sub-tasks that are completable in a short amount of time and report completion as required by managers
5. Pragmatically adhere to software engineering principles (modularity, incremental development, no premature optimization, no feature creep, no speculative generality, ...)

Education / Experience

1. At least three (for a senior role, at least five years) years of professional experience in frontend and backend development
2. High sense of responsibility to run software on a scale
3. Strong passion for top-notch software development and delivery
4. Practical experience with Agile software development methods
5. Knowledge of functional and object-oriented programming paradigms
6. Experience working with Git and CI/CD
7. A degree in Computer Science is desirable but not essential 

Specialist Skills

1. Commercial experience building products with JS and/or TypeScript 
2. Practical experience with frameworks like React and/or Vue
3. Experience building and delivering cross-platform mobile applications for iOS and Android with frameworks like Cordova and React Native is a plus
4. Familiarity with version control systems, like Git.
5. Experienced with developing user-facing UX/UI app flows
6. Being experienced in delivering a mobile application to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store is a plus
7. Proficiency in Python, with knowledge of FastAPI and/or Typer is a plus
