About this role

What the role involves:


As a Senior Software Engineer (Rust) in Catalyst, you will be a key player, utilizing your Rust, backend, and systems programming expertise to develop high-quality, efficient, and reliable software. You will collaborate across multiple teams and time zones to design, implement, and maintain critical components of our products, playing an integral part in our success.



  1. Follow agile software development practices.
  2. Work with teams across multiple time zones
  3. Work independently on software development tasks
  4. Be proactive and require minimal supervision or mentoring to complete tasks.
  5. Review specifications produced by architects and formal methods specialists
  6. Contribute to the design of algorithms.
  7. Write clean, straightforward, efficient code that satisfies previously agreed acceptance criteria and specifications.
  8. Commit often and submit small pull requests frequently
  9. Cover your code with unit, property, and integration tests when applicable
  10. Review the pull requests of your teammates
  11. Fix bugs in your code and legacy code from others
  12. Be available for emergency fixing of severity one issue on deployed products
  13. Integrate software components and third-party libraries
  14. Verify and deploy programs and systems
  15. Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software
  16. Write documentation for the code
  17. Write technical user manuals



Requirements

Who you are:


  1. Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.
  2. Strong experience with the Rust programming language in production environments.
  3. Expert-level understanding of Rust’s ownership model, borrowing mechanics, lifetimes, and concurrency paradigms.
  4. Experience in developing web services and RESTful APIs.
  5. Understanding of HTTP protocols, accessibility, and security compliance.
  6. Knowledge of distributed systems and network development.
  7. Experience with concurrent programming and multithreading.
  8. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  9. Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
  10. Understanding of continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
  11. Experience with software development methods such as test-driven development.
  12. Knowledge of cryptography protocols is a plus.
  13. Experience with Web3 technologies is an added advantage.
  14. Extensive experience working with Git and version control systems.
  15. Practical experience with agile software development methods.
  16. Proven track record of delivering software projects from inception to completion.
  17. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is desirable but optional.
  18. Proficient in functional and object-oriented programming paradigms.
  19. Familiarity with software development best practices, including design, implementation, testing, and debugging.
  20. Expertise in writing idiomatic Rust code that meets acceptance criteria.
  21. Ability to write efficient tests that provide adequate code coverage.
  22. Knowledgeable in distributed and concurrent computation.
  23. Understanding basic cryptography principles is desirable but optional.
  24. Strong analytical skills to break down complex tasks.
  25. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
  26. Proactive in identifying potential problems and implementing solutions.
  27. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  28. Ability to document code and APIs clearly and concisely.
  29. Professional interaction with team members and stakeholders.
  30. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  31. Efficient in time management and meeting deadlines.
  32. Adherence to software engineering principles to prevent feature creep and unnecessary complexity.
